When it comes to planning and designing your website, the sidebar might not get top priority. In an age where minimal design and mobile browsers dominate, it’s easy to understand why you may want to skip the sidebar altogether. However, your sidebar is an excellent way to display extra information and an even better way to display page-relevant details that don’t really fit into the “content” area of that page. Better still, using targeted content in your sidebar that is relevant to the page will make sure the user pays attention to it. And attention is certainly a good thing.
